Supine Twist

How much to do
Hold for 30–45 seconds. Then do the same on the other side.

How to do it

  1. Lie on your back with your knees bent, feet on the floor, and arms extended out to the sides.
  2. Draw both knees toward your chest.
  3. Let the knees lower together to one side while both shoulders stay heavy on the mat.
  4. Turn your gaze gently in the opposite direction if it feels comfortable.
  5. Hold and breathe, then return through center.

How to breathe

Breathe slowly in and out through your nose, letting the exhale run longer than the inhale.

Common mistakes

  • Shoulders creeping up toward your ears. Draw them down and back before you start, and keep them there.

  • Giving one side more time than the other. Count both, and match the looser side to the tighter one.
