How to do it
- Sit on the floor with one leg bent in front of you at ninety degrees and the other bent out to the side, also at ninety degrees.
- Sit tall and square your torso over your front shin.
- Keep both sit bones grounded and lengthen up through your spine.
- To deepen it, gently hinge your chest forward over the front leg.
- Hold and breathe.
How to breathe
Breathe in to lengthen, then let the exhale carry you a little deeper. Never force it.
Common mistakes
Rounding your back. Lengthen your spine first, then move — the shape you start in is the shape you keep.
Giving one side more time than the other. Count both, and match the looser side to the tighter one.
Pushing into pain. A stretch should feel like tension, never a sharp edge; back off until it does.
