How to do it
- Begin on all fours, then widen your knees out to the sides as far as is comfortable.
- Turn your toes out and keep the inner edges of your feet on the floor.
- Lower onto your forearms and keep your back flat.
- Gently rock your hips back toward your heels until you feel your inner thighs open.
- Rock forward to ease off, then back again, breathing slowly throughout.
How to breathe
Breathe slowly in and out through your nose, letting the exhale run longer than the inhale.
Common mistakes
Pushing into pain. A stretch should feel like tension, never a sharp edge; back off until it does.
Rounding your back. Lengthen your spine first, then move — the shape you start in is the shape you keep.
