How much to do
Work 30–45 seconds per interval.

How to do it

  1. Stand in a slight squat with your weight on one foot and your chest tall.
  2. Push off your standing foot and leap sideways onto the other foot.
  3. Land softly with a bent knee and sweep the trailing leg behind you.
  4. Reach the opposite arm across your body to help your balance.
  5. Spring back the other way and continue bounding side to side.

How to breathe

Keep a steady rhythm rather than matching each rep — the pace is high enough that holding your breath will cost you.

Common mistakes

  • Landing flat and loud. Land toes first and let your knees and hips absorb it — quiet is the whole cue.

  • Knees falling inward. Push them out so they track over your middle toes.

  • Rushing. Speed hides the range; slow down until the last rep looks like the first.
