Level

How much to do
Work 30–45 seconds per interval.

How to do it

  1. Stand in a boxing stance with your lead foot forward and both fists up guarding your chin.
  2. Snap a quick jab straight out with your lead hand, then return it to guard.
  3. Follow immediately with a cross, rotating your back hip and shoulder through the punch.
  4. Return the rear hand to your guard and reset your feet.
  5. Repeat the one-two in a steady rhythm, staying light on your feet.

How to breathe

Keep a steady rhythm rather than matching each rep — the pace is high enough that holding your breath will cost you.

Common mistakes

  • Locking your knees out. Leave a soft bend so the load stays in the muscle, not the joint.

  • Shoulders creeping up toward your ears. Draw them down and back before you start, and keep them there.

  • Rushing. Speed hides the range; slow down until the last rep looks like the first.
